UP Police beefs up Taj Mahal’s security after ISIS threat

Lucknow(Uttar Pradesh)[ India], Mar. 17: In the wake of a media report of a threat to the Taj Mahal from the terror outfit ISIS, Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Daljeet Chowdhary on Friday assured that proper security has been beefed up and no untoward incident will take place.

"As you are aware, a linkage has been circulated through Whatsapp to many people and we are tying to get the details of it.

By prima facie we have taken the matter very seriously and the deployment at Taj Mahal for its security has been enhanced.

The PAC, CAPF, QRTs and other bomb disposal squads everybody has been alerted," he told ANI. Chaudhary added that there is a proper frisking and proper surveillance being carried out in and around Taj Mahal.

He said, "We are very sure that any untoward incident will ever happen to the monument." The internal security in the Taj Mahal is provided by the Central Industrial Security Force(CISF).

The Uttar Pradesh Police and Provincial Armed Constabulary man the outer posts. SWOT commandos have been put in charge at vantage points. The annual Taj Mahotsava is set to begin on Saturday..
