Warner, bowlers help Aussies reclaim Chappell-Hadlee series

Canberra [Australia], Dec.6 : David Warner produced a flawless performance before bowlers came to fore as Australia clinched the Chappell-Hadlee series after registering a comprehensive 116-run win over New Zealand in the second ODI at the Manuka Oval here on Tuesday.

Opting to bat first, opener David Warner struck a blistering 119-run knock besides sharing a 145-run stand, the highest partnership of the match, with skipper Steve Smith (72) providing his side with a solid start.

Travis Head (57) and Mitchell Marsh (unbeaten at 76) also made significant contributions to propel Australia post a respectable score of 378-5.

In reply, the Black Caps were bundled out for 262 runs in 47.2 overs despite some resilient efforts by skipper Kane Williamson (81) and James Neesham (74).

Opener Martin Guptill also contributed 45 runs in his side's innings. Cummins was the pick of the bowlers for Australia as he finished with the figures of four for 41. Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and James Faulkner all picked two wickets each. Warner was adjudged `Man of the Match`. Australia, who won the opening match by 68 runs, will aim to seal series sweep when they take on Kiwis in the final ODI in Melbourne on December 9.
