Week-long International Kite Festival kicks off in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], Jan. 9 : A week-long international kite festival is being held at Sabarmati River Front in Gujarat's Ahmedabad.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated the festival yesterday. As many as two thousand students from the schools run by the Municipal Corporation performed 'suryanamaskar' during the opening ceremony of the festival.

The theme pavilion based on 'Tourist Destinations of Gujarat', kite workshop, adventure games for kids, craft stalls to display the local art and food stalls with local delicacies are the major attractions of this year's international kite festival.

Kites with different shapes, shades and colors are the main attraction for children-who gathered in large numbers to witness the event.

About 51 kite fliers from eight different states while more than 100 kite fliers from 31 countries are participating in this event.

Kite fliers from Canada, Germany, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, New-Zealand, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and USA are part of them.

The international kite fliers will also visit Palanpur, Rajkot, Vadodara, Pavagadh, Valsad and Gandhidham as a part of international kite festival.
