Wrong message has gone out, members must abide by laws: Pabitra Kar

Agartala (Tripura) [India], Dec. 20: Condemning the disruption made on the final day of the Winter Session by Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Sudip Roy Barman who seized the Speaker's ceremonial mace and ran out in protest, Deputy Speaker of Tripura Assembly Pabitra Kar on Tuesday said a bad message has gone out, which should not be repeated.

Pabitra Kar told ANI, "A very bad message has gone out, should not be repeated. Members must abide by law. Speaker can suspend him also, as it was the last day of our session. The Speaker politely warned everyone and said if this happens again, 'I will take a stunt action to make the purity of the assembly'." The Tripura Assembly was disrupted on the final day of the winter session amid demands of resignation of Forest Minister Naresh Jamatia, who is facing allegation of moral turpitude from a former party colleague.

Former Leader of Opposition and Trinamool Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman stunned everyone after he seized ceremonial mace from its frame and ran out as a protest against Speaker's refusal to allow discussion on Mr.

Jamatia. The members of the opposition, the Congress and TMC had earlier in the day blamed Jamatia citing a tribal leader's statement, who had recently been expelled from the CPI(M).
