14,000 graduands to be conferred upon degrees, diplomas during Convocation 2016 of Amity University

Noida (Uttar Pradesh)[India], Nov. 10 : It was a historic moment at Amity University Uttar Pradesh when Honorary Doctorate Degrees were conferred upon Najeeb Jung, Delhi Lieutenant-Governor along with Onkar S Kanwar, Chairman and MD Apollo Tyres; Anil Kohli, Honorary Brigadier; Mukul Rohatgi, Attorney General of India and Sean Tompkins, CEO RICS Global during the first day of 12th Convocation Ceremony at University Campus, Noida.

12th Convocation of Amity University is spread over three consecutive days- wherein more than 14,000 successfully qualified graduands of several programs would receive their UG and PG degrees, diplomas, trophies and medals for their exceptional performance.

During the first day, 3,393 graduands from Management Domain received their degrees and diplomas. Around 268 meritorious graduands received Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, Corporate Awards and Salvers.

Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh declared 12th Convocation open. Welcoming the gathering, Balvinder Shukla- vice chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh presented a brief report of the University in which she touched upon key achievements and initiatives that have been taken during the year 2015-2016 including new programmes launched in cutting edge technologies, breakthrough research work by Scholars and Researchers, various research projects given to Amity by Department of Science and Technology and several ministries of Government, research papers presented by faculty members in National and International Conferences and Seminars and other milestones achieved by Amity University.

Blessing the graduands, Ashok K Chauhan- founder president, Amity Group said that the alumni of Amity are distinguished, geared to take the world head on.

He motivated the students to dream big with open eyes and motivated them to instill self-confidence which will help them to reach the pinnacle of success.

During the convocation, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan and Dr. Atul Chauhan conferred Honorary Doctorate Degree in Philosophy upon Najeeb Jung for his outstanding contribution as an administrator and a brilliant academician who has shown utmost sincerity and humility in all political and social endeavors.

Accepting the Honoris Causa, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor expressed his deep gratitude for conferring the honorary doctorate upon him.

He appreciated the vision and dedication of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan for years of contribution towards development of nation through quality education. His Excellency apprised that it is important for an individual to have humility and empathy towards other people especially those who are underprivileged.

He mentioned that lasting happiness cannot be achieved just by being professionally successful or earning good money and advised the youth to rise above their profession, state, caste and religion to contribute towards the nation building which will give lasting peace and happiness.

Onkar S Kanwar was conferred upon Honorary Doctorate Degree in Philosophy for his vision, deep commitment to propagate his knowledge, professionalism and inspirational leadership in steering organization towards continuous growth dedicated to the good of humanity.

Mukul Rohatgi was conferred upon Honorary Doctorate Degree in Law for his singular contribution through determination, focus and perseverance to provide insights for path breaking changes in the Indian Legal System.

Expressing his gratefulness for being conferred the Honoris Causa upon him, Rohatgi lauded the efforts of Amity in providing world class education to students and also rooting them in the culture and values of Indian society.

He mentioned that the lamp of life is education and advised the budding legal professionals that they shouldn't get dazzled by the success of other people since it is not an easy journey and success comes to those who work hard and preserve.

Dr. Anil Kohli was awarded the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science for his contribution on the scientific growth of the nation through cutting edge and pioneering research with remarkable ability to convert technological breakthrough into innovative and practical application.

Dr. Sean Tompkins was conferred upon the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Philosophy for his exception vision and deep commitment for propagation of surveying standards, professionalism and direction in pursuit of excellence.

Expressing his gratitude for conferring Honoris Cause upon him, Tompkins said that over the years, Amity has been an epitome of quality education across nation.

He shared that RICS is immensely proud to be associated with Amity to shape India and its education system.

During the second day of convocation, over 3, 588 graduands from Engineering and Life Sciences domains will receive their degrees and diplomas.
