Personal guard of Tripura Education Minister commits suicide

Agartala (Tripura) [India], Mar. 15 : A personal guard of Tripura Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, committed suicide with his service gun in the official residence of a Tripura's senior Minister here on Wednesday.

52-year old Badul Sur, a police Havildar on duty shot himself in the mouth in the official residence of Chakraboty.

The Minister was then present in his residence and getting ready to move for the Assembly during the incident.

Badul a resident of Siddhi Ashram area in southern Agartala had lost his wife half-and-a-year ago and due to which he reportedly was in a state of severe depression.

Suman Deb, a relative of the deceased said "We did not realize that my brother-in-law had mentally broken down to that extend.

He was very obedient and busy with his duty and his son. Around one-and-a-half year back his wife had died in an accident and was in a state of severe depression.

What more can I say." This morning, he had turned up for his duty in the Minister's residence and had gone to the desolate outer toilet of the quarter and shot himself in the mouth from his service revolver.

Immediately his colleagues rushed him to G.B. Panth hospital in a critical condition and later there he succumbed to his injuries. He is survived by a son, who was shocked on getting the news. The police have ordered an investigation into the incident..
