Air India executive pilot fails breathe analyzer test

New Delhi [India], Feb.9, : Air India's Executive Director for Operations, Captain A. Kathpalia has been rostered off duty after failing a breathe analyzer test. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, an enquiry will be ordered. The Air India Pilots Union Indian, the Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) have sent a legal notices to the DGCA for not taking proper actions against pilots for violation of Breath Analyzer (BA) test.

The test is conducted to ensure that the pilots are not drunk before entering their cockpits. The continued inaction by DGCA in this regard attracts both civil and criminal liability on the part of those concerned.

It may also be noted that the safety department of Air India has submitted a report on this subject to the DGCA, but no steps have been taken.
