New Delhi [India], April. 2 : Describing Allahabad High Court as a 'Tirtha Kshetra' (pilgrimage site) for the judiciary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the people associated with the legal profession played a key role in the freedom struggle.
"The Allahabad High Court is like a 'Tirtha Kshetra' for our judiciary. Those associated with the legal profession played a vital role in the freedom struggle and protected our people against colonialism," the Prime Minister said while speaking at the valedictory ceremony of sesquicentennial celebrations of Allahabad High Court.
During his address, Prime Minister Modi also urged the people, involved with the start-up sector to innovate on aspects where technology can help the judiciary.
"Technology is playing a big role in this century and I see technology having a big scope in the judiciary as well," he added.
Asserting that over 1,200 obsolete laws have been scrapped by the Government since May 2014, the Prime Minister said the government is working towards reducing the burden of laws from the shoulder of public and the courts of the country.
Prime Minister further said that every citizen should prepare the roadmap for the bright future of India.
"Let us think about the India we want to create when we mark 75 years of freedom in 2022. Let every citizen prepare that roadmap," he said..
