Ancient Ganesha idol of Chhattisgarh damaged by suspected Maoists

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], Jan. 28 : An ancient Ganesha idol located atop Dholkal hill in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada, that went missing, was found broken into 56 pieces on Saturday.

The 6-feet- idol was found in a damaged condition downhill. Cops suspect there is Maoists role in dislodging the ancient Ganesha idol. According to police, a lot of visitors had been coming to the place to see the idol, which is over a 1,000-year-old, which was causing trouble for the Maoists.

The incident came to light when few people from Jagdalpur city came to the place to worship the idol. On reaching the place, they found the idol missing. They took the picture of the empty space, which went viral on social media. The whole Dantewada administration started searching for the idol and recovered the broken 56 pieces of the idol.

Presently, the concerned department is busy re-forming the idol and placing it on its set place..
