Anil Baijal extends greeting to citizens on New Year

New Delhi [India], Dec. 31 : Newly elected Lt. Governor Anil Baijal on Saturday extended his warmest New Year greetings to all residents of New Delhi.

In his New Year greetings, Baijal wished for the health and happiness of all. "May the coming year hold the promise of hope and optimism for all," said Baijal. He wished for a united and prosperous India and wished the New Year to mark the end of all the sufferings.

"As we step into the New Year, let us resolve to work together towards building a united and prosperous India," he said.

"May the New Year mark the end of suffering and usher in new hope, especially for those most in need," he added.

Baijal also called upon all citizens to be true to the Indian ethos of peaceful co-existence and unity amidst diversity and respect for each other.

Baijal has also assured a better Delhi to live in with major problems such as women's safety, law and order to be overcome.

"Delhi is a big city. There are problems of pollution, population, congestion, law and order, security, women safety. We all know what the problems are. We are going to make efforts to solve these problems," he said. Baijal, earlier in the day, took oath as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi at Raj Niwas. The oath was administered by Delhi High Court's Chief Justice G. Rohini. President Pranab Mukherjee earlier on December 28 accepted Najeeb Jung's resignation and approved Baijal's name as the next Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory.
