Arsenal swamp Swansea 4-0 in EPL at Liberty Stadium

London [United Kingdom], Jan.15 : Arsenal FC rediscovered its swagger by swamping Swansea in an EPL match at the Liberty Stadium 4-0.

Swansea lost the match in humiliating fashion as Arsenal, aided by two own goals and an assist from Wayne Routledge, cantered to an emphatic victory, reports the Guardian.

There was, however, sour note to the proceedings when manager Arsene Wenger opted to send in a substitute for striker Alexis Sanchez eleven minutes from the end of playing, leaving the player fuming.

Wenger opted to send in Danny Welbeck as he wanted to give Sanchez some respite. Sanchez, who had scored Arsenal's fourth goal, never saw it that way. He looked thoroughly fed up as he walked past Wenger, took his gloves off, kicked them up in the air and pulled a coat over his head to cover his eyes.

Sanchez has now scored or assisted 31 goals in his last 32 Premier League appearances and remains Arsenal's most influential player by a distance, yet it was the Chile international's actions off the pitch, rather than his contribution on it, that provided the main talking point afterwards.

"I rested him for two weeks, gave him a little breather. I think he benefited from that. I gave him another rest for today, so he will benefit from that as well," Wenger was quoted, as saying with a twinkle in his eye and a wry smile.
