Bengaluru, Sept.10 : A two-day BRICS Wellness Workshop began here in Bengaluru on Saturday. Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar inaugurated the workshop.
The workshop has been organised by Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of External Affairs with support of Karnataka Government.
It will discuss the importance of traditional medicine in contemporary community health care due to its health promotive, disease preventive, curative, rehabilitative and rejuvenation properties.
Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said, through this workshop the BRICS nations should moot the WHO to create a separate World Organisation for Traditional Medicine under the umbrella of WHO.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for AYUSH (independent charge) Sripad Yesso Naik said that India was the first country to adopt the WHO policy for prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.
