Bengaluru Bulls survive U Mumba scare in Pro Kabaddi League clash
New Delhi, July 24 :Bengaluru Bulls survived a second-half scare as they prevailed U Mumba 28-27 in a nail-biting clash in the fourth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League here at Thyagaraj Sports Complex last evening. Despite suffering another home leg defeat, U Mumba remain in fourth spot with 37 points from 13 games whereas Bengaluru Bulls are now in sixth spot with 31 points from 13 games but will not be able to make it to the semi finals. Rohit Kumar opened Bengaluru Bulls' account in the first minute of the match with a raid point. U Mumba scored three points in two minutes to lead 3-2 after five minutes. It was a close first 10 minutes as it was 4-4 after nine minutes. Bengaluru Bulls led 7-5 after 10 minutes. U Mumba tied the game at 7-7 in the 12th minute. Rohit Kumar had a quiet first 15 minutes but with his team trailing 7-10, he scored two raid points in the 18th minute. Bengaluru Bulls leveled the game in the 19th minute at 10-10 as U Mumba failed to score any point in the last five minutes. Anup Kumar scored just one raid point in the first half for U Mumba. Rohit Kumar scored a raid in the 22nd minute as Bengaluru Bulls led 13-10. Bengaluru Bulls inflicted an all out in the 23rd minute to lead 16-10 after 23 minutes. U Mumba struggled at the start of and failed to score a single point in the first five minutes in response to eight scored by Bengaluru Bulls. Bengaluru Bulls led 20-11 after 32 minutes as Anup Kumar and Rakesh Kumar struggled for U Mumba. U Mumba forced a super tackle in the 30th minute as they trailed 14-23 but Bengaluru Bulls inflicted an all out in 31st minute to lead 27-15. Bengaluru Bulls were superb in the second half as they scored 17 points in 12 minutes to get an unassailable lead. U Mumba scored three points in next two minutes to trail 18-27 after 34 minutes. Rishank Devadiga scored with a raid in the 35th minute as U Mumba trailed 19-27. U Mumba continued their run as they inflicted an all out in 37th minute on Bengaluru Bulls as they trailed 24-27. Bengaluru Bulls crumbled under pressure as they lost an 11-point lead in seven minutes and led 27-26 in the 38th minute. It was a tied game at 27-27 in the last minute but Bengaluru Bulls tackled Rakesh Kumar in the dying seconds to win an exciting encounter 28-27.
