BJP misconstruing Azad’s statement: Digvijaya Singh

New Delhi [India], Nov 18 : Congress party general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Friday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misconstruing Ghulam Nabi Azad's statement on demonetisation and said the saffron party is exaggerating the matter.

Singh said that the BJP should not indulge itself in such issues and make money available for the people of the nation.

"The BJP is moulding the feeling with which the Ghulam Nabi Azad spoke on the issue of demonetisation.

The BJP has no issue left with them," said Singh. "They are not worried about the deaths which have taken place. Leave all this issues, we want to know by when will the cash will be made available to the people of the nation," he added.

Azad earlier in the day said there is no question of apologising for his remark. Talking to the media, Azad said, "BJP should ask apology for pushing the country to the edge. The kind of situation that is presently created it is all because of the BJP government." Opposition parties attacked the Centre saying the demonetisation move has hit the poor and the marginalised.

The opposition Congress Party on Thursday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made demonetisation announcement on November 8, and thus, until the former comes to the Rajya Sabha, there will be no discussion on the issue.
