Charkha staffer gets NFI’s 2017 National Media Award

New Delhi [India], Mar.8 : Mohammad Anis ur Rahman Khan, Deputy Editor, Charkha Development Communication Network, was felicitated with the 2017 National Media Award at an event organised by National Foundation of India (NFI) recently at the India Habitat Centre.

Charkha runs a trilingual feature service in Hindi, English and Urdu that reflects voices on development issues from the ground.

The award was given away by Dr.Syeda Hameed, social activist, author and former member of the Planning Commission of India and Aakar Patel, senior journalist and Executive Director, Amnesty International India.

Other distinguished guests present on the dais were Arun Maira, Management Consultant and former Member, Planning Commission of India and Prof.

Neera Chandoke Political Scientist and former Professor, University of Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mario Noronha, CEO Charkha, said the award was a matter of pride for the organisation.

He added that it also signifies a hope and joy for the network of rural writers across regions, many of whom Mr.

Rahman has helped groom to articulate development concerns from the ground..
