Cho Ramaswamy posthumously honoured with Padma Bhushan

New Delhi [India], Jan. 25 : Amongst the long list of people who will be conferred with the Padma awards, Cho Ramaswamy, actor, political satirist and founder-editor of Tamil magazine Thuglak, was on Wednesday posthumously awarded with the Padma Bhushan award for Literature and Education.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised on the important role played by Cho as he said, "If someone has to write the political history of India, he cannot write it without including Cho Ramaswamy and his political commentary." Cho, who passed away on December 7 last year, has acted in 89 movies and featured in 15 plays, besides directing five movies and writing the screenplay for another five films.

Apart from him, singer Kailash Kher and chef Sanjeev Kapoor are other personalities who will receive the coveted Padma Shri award.
