Cold wave intensifies in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, (Himachal Pradesh), [India], Jan. 15 : The cold wave continues to intensify in Himachal Pradesh. Shimla is still in sub zero temperature. The local residents are facing difficulties as the frozen roads are becoming tough for the people to walk on.

The employees leave their houses in the early hours to reach office. "We are facing problems due to cold waves and snowfall. The frozen roads are making it difficult for us to do our work," said Devki Devi, a local resident. The electricity supply is still hampered due to the ongoing repair and restoration work due to which the people are not able to use electric heaters.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy snowfall alert for the next 48 hours in the state.

The minimum temperatures in the last 24 hours are alarming with lowest in Keylong at -11.6 degress while Shimla at 1.6 degrees.

The cold weather with severe snowfall has damaged daily life of the residents..
