Colombian President Santos to donate Nobel prize money to conflict victims

New Delhi [India], Oct. 10 : Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, who was awarded the 2016 Nobel peace prize for his work to bring peace to his country and for signing a peace deal last month with the country's FARC rebels to end 52 years of war, has said that he will donate the money from the prize to help the victims of the conflict in his country.

He was awarded the prize for reaching a peace agreement with the FARC rebel group last month. The deal was rejected a few days later by Colombian voters in a referendum. He made the announcement in the city of Bojaya, in the north-western region of Choco, after taking part religious ceremony for people affected by the conflict.
