Customs seize Heroin worth Rs. five crore from Pak-bound train at Attari

Attari, Aug 5 : The Customs Preventive Commissionerate officials on Friday seized one Kg of white coloured/granular material suspected to be Heroin from a Pakistan based good train at Attari railway station in Punjab.

The value of the recovered heroin is estimated to be five crore rupees in the Indian market. Earlier today, an empty goods wagon, 68 DN, train arrived at Attari railway station at 2:50 P.M. Upon the rummage of empty wagons, the custom officers detected two concealed packets from the cavity of the empty wagon wherein the drug powder was recovered.

The recovered heroin has been seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962 and under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The custom officials have also started enquiring railway officials on this regard..
