Delhi master plan to be amended to end sealing drive: Puri

New Delhi, Jan 31 : Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday said that the government were planning to amend the Master Plan 2021 for Delhi in an attempt to provide a relief to traders from an ongoing sealing drive in the city.

Addressing media, Puri said that after meetings with stakeholders they have come up with proposals for amendments and it would be taken up in a Delhi Development Authority (DDA) meeting on Friday.

Once the proposed amendments are accepted, a notification will be issued about the amendments and it will be placed in public domain, before it comes into force, he said, adding that he has decided to decrease the number of days for which the notification has to be put in public domain from 45 days to three, considering the situation's urgency.

The sealing drive is being carried out by a Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee against business establishments using residential properties for commercial purposes, and it is being implemented by the three BJP-led municipal corporations.
