Dhawan steers India to 72-1 at lunch in opening Test

Antigua, July 21 : Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan produced calm and composed batting performance as India reached 72-1 at lunch on the opening day of the first Test against West Indies here at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Thursday. Opting to bat first, India made a slow start as the visitors lost opener Murali Vijay for mere seven runs at the hands of Shannon Gabriel. Dhawan (46) and Cheteshwar Pujara (14) then provided stability to their side's innings by making an unbeaten 58-run stand for the second-wicket. India, which are starting as strong favourites, are aiming to seal their third straight Test series win under Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, West Indies are playing their first five-day series since losing 2-0 to Australia in December and January.
