Digi Dhan Mela to begin today in Pune

Pune (Maharashtra)[India], Jan. 7: Digi Dhan Mela will be organised by the Centre and Maharashtra government in Pune on Saturday to promote digital payments.

It is being done under the aegis of present two schemes of the Centre's Lucky Grahak Yojana for consumers and Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana for merchants.

The schemes seek to nudge people towards significantly higher usage of digital transactions through the offer of incentives.

The day-long mela will be held at the SP College Ground. Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani and Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Shubhash Bhambre will be the chief guests for the main function. The mela will have 60 stalls manned by banks, e-wallet, telecom, Aadhar enabled payment system (AEPS) vendors, merchants associations, Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendra operators, Fair Price Shop Owners, small vendors and self-help groups.

Ten village panchayats and ten municipal councils from the district will be declared as digital at the function.

During the event, help will also be extended to citizens for opening their bank accounts, linking mobile number to bank account, Aadhar enrolment, carrying out Aadhar updates and seeding Aadhar number with bank account number.
