DU students to ‘Occupy’ Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station

New Delhi, Jan 17 : Demanding roll-back in metro fare hike, students of Delhi University (DU) are to picket the Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station on Thursday, a student group said on Wednesday.

Organised by the All India Students' Association (AISA), a Communist Party of India-Marxist-Leninist affiliated group, "thousands of students" are expected to join the demonstration, which the group has termed "Occupy Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station".

Students of the group have been canvassing in different colleges for the past few days asking students to join the mass protest.

"It was in January when Occupy Vishwavidyalaya Metro Strike campaign hit different colleges of DU, getting tremendous response with an unequivocal demand of immediate roll-back of Metro Fare hike and asking metro concessional passes for all students," AISA said in a statement.

Many from Ramjas College Union, Satyawati College Union, Miranda House College Union, AIDSO, SFI, PACHHAS and various other groups, have promised to be part of the agitation.
