Dussehra fever: India becomes one in celebrating victory of good over evil

New Delhi [India], Oct. 12 : With the festive occasion of Dussehra and Vijaya Dashami being observed across the nation, people from all communities were seen coming together in praying and celebrating the victory of good over evil.

In Maharashtra, people celebrated Dussehra with traditional fervor and delight. As per the tradition of the day most of the households performed Yantra and Shastra poojan and sought blessings of Goddess Saraswati- goddess of knowledge.

Temples and navratri Devi pandals across the cities also culminated their navratri festivities by organizing special Bhogs for the visiting devotees.

Whereas in Karnataka, the world famous Mysuru Dasara festivities culminated with a grand Jambusavari procession.

In Assam, Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal participated at Dusshera program in Nehru stadium at Guwahati, where he appealed all sections of people to work together for the development of the society.

In Bihar, Dussehra celebrations today off peacefully with the administration and security forces keeping a strict vigil to ensure incident free.

Effigies of Ravan, Kumbhakarna and and Meghnad were burnt at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was the chief guest at the event, greeted people on the occasion. In Delhi, with the burning of effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakarna ten day Dussehra celebrations came to a close.

President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister DrManmohan Singh attended the function at Subhash Maidan.
