Ed Sheeran sued for allegedly copying ‘Photograph’

Washington. D.C, Aug. 10 : Grammy-award singer Ed Sheeran has been sued for 20 million dollar under charges of copyright infringement for his latest hit 'Thinking out Loud'.

The lawsuit has been filed by Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard, who allege that Sheeran's 'Photograph' is a copy of their 2009 song 'Amazing' sung by Matt Cardle, the winner of the 2010 season of The X Factor, reports E!Online.

The documents submitted in the court by Richard Busch, the representative of the plaintiffs, states, "the songs' similarities reach the very essence of the work.

The similarities go beyond substantial, which is itself sufficient to establish copyright infringement, and are in fact striking." The complaint adds "the similarity of words, vocal style, vocal melody, melody and rhythm are clear indicators, amount other things, that 'Photograph' copies 'Amazing'.".
