Ex-DCW chief slams Haryana Govt. for increase in crime rate

New Delhi [India], Jan. 30: After the horrific incident where dacoits gang-raped two women in Gurugram, former Delhi Commission for Women(DCW) chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh on Monday came down heavily on Manohar Lal Khattar-led government and blamed them for the increased crime rate in the state.

"It is a shameful incident. I think that after this (BJP) government came to power in Haryana, these kinds of crimes have increased.

Now, the hooligans enter the factory where their staff is living, they snatch away the money and also get so much time to conduct their misdeeds," she told ANI.

Singh urged the state police and administration to work closely to safeguard the factory area so that such incidents do not take place in future.

"If it is a factory then there should be proper barricading and there should be proper presence of police in the area," she added.

She urged the state government to assure protection to factory as most of the workers are poor and downtrodden.

Two young women were allegedly gang-raped by about half-a-dozen dacoits inside a factory premises in Haileymandi here in the early hours of Sunday.

The women along with their families and other workers were sleeping inside the factory premises when the armed dacoits barged inside and took turns to rape the women after holding the others hostage.
