FIR filed against me to divert attention from AAP’s success in Punjab: Somnath Bharti

New Delhi [India], Sept. 11 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Somnath Bharti, who has been booked for allegedly misbehaving with security guards at AIIIMS, on Sunday cried foul and claimed that the FIR was filed in response to "humongous success" of AAP's kisan rally in Punjab, asserting that it was nothing but a 'diversionary tactic'.

"Is this FIR in response to d humongous success of AAP kishan rally in Punjab? Such diversionary tactics won't b any help.

Punjab is AAP's," he said. In a series of tweets, Bharti said that AIIMS' authorities were lying and they have been denying legitimate access to Gautam Nagar residents.

"AIIMS is lying. They have been denying legitimate access to Gautam Nagar RESIDENTS - AIIMS even refused to PWD meetings.

Wherever common man will be troubled I will go. The allegation that residents dismantled the wall is a blatant lie. I will fight in court," he said. The Malviya Nagar MLA for AAP further said that AIIMS had begged for a meeting, which was scheduled to take place on September 14, to which the residents of Gautam Nagar and Bharti had agreed.

"Come what may, this wall will have to go in the larger interest of Gautam Nagar, Masjid moth, Niti Bagh and rest of ward 164 residents.

Hundreds of residents of Gautam Nagar and Masjid moth including SHO, Hauz Khas and other police officers were witness to the demolition," he said.

Bharti also hit back at the news channels, saying, "It's wrong on part of channels to show it as a scuffle issue between AIIMS guards and residents.

The contentious wall was between the two sides." He also targeted the Delhi Police and alleged that it has been months and still they have not done anything on complaints filed against BJP leader Arti Mehra or Congress leader Jitender Kochhar A case has been registered against Bharti and his supporters for allegedly misbehaving with security guards of AIIMS.

It is reported that the incident took place on September 9 when Bharti and his men allegedly injured six security guards of AIIMS.

An FIR has been filed at the Hauj Khas Police Station..
