Flooding wreaks havoc in New York City, transit services suspended

New York [U.S.], May 7 : Flooding caused by heavy rain and strong winds wrecked havoc on rails and roads in New York City on Saturday.

Flash floods soaked the city while streets were turned into rivers leading to suspension of transit services.

"Be safe and stay dry, NYC," the mayor's office tweeted. There's a flood warning in effect until this afternoon at the earliest after cascaded onto the floor of the lower Manhattan transit hub-which connects riders to PATH trains and subway-as commuters tried to avoid the puddles after the deluge began shortly after 1 p.m., reports CNN.

In the past one week, flooding has caused seven deaths in Arkansas. The flooding impacted more than 100 highways in the St. Louis region, according to Tom Blair, an officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation..
