France introduces sea patrols following terrorist attacks

London, Aug.3 : A marine police spokesman has said that France has introduced sea patrols for passenger ferries to and from Britain, following the recent string of jihadist attacks in the country.

The spokesman added that marine police has been deployed along the French coastline, from the North Sea to the Mediterranean and have been tasked with contributing to efforts that began last year to secure the country's waters, reports the Guardian.

The first patrol took place on Monday, with French officers flown in by helicopter onto the Mont Saint-Michel ferry, as it entered French waters from southern England.

The spokesman said that similar armed patrols would be seen in train stations across France..
