Johannesburg [South Africa], Sep.2 : Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton bounced back in style to emerge as the fastest driver in the second practice session for this weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
The Briton, who clocked his best lap of one minute and 22.801 seconds, was nearly 0.193 seconds quicker than his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, who finished at second place.
Meanwhile, four-time champion Sebastian Vettel finished third in his Ferrari ahead of team-mate Kimi Raikkonen,Sport24 reported.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who received a gentle warning for his aggressive style of driving by the FIA's race director Charlie Whiting, made a fifth-place finish followed by team-mate Daniel Ricciardo.
Earlier in the day, defending three-time world champion Hamilton finished second behind Germany's Rosberg in the opening session.
Hamilton, who is seeking to complete a hat-trick of successive Italian wins, is currently leading the championship table by nine points over Rosberg.
