Harry Potter e-books to hit web soon

Washington. D.C, Aug. 18 : As a pleasant surprise for Harry Potter fans worldwide, JK Rowling is planning to bring a series of short e-books with new stories about some of the characters from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Pottermore, the digital publishing and e-commerce world, founded by Rowling issued a statement that it would be releasing three short e-books starting from September 6, reports The Guardian.

Named 'Pottermore Presents', the series is a collection of new stories about characters, including Potter's potions master Horace Slughorn, Hogwarts head teacher Professor Minerva McGonagall and Ministry of Magic bureaucrat Dolores Umbridge.

Approximately 10,000 words long, the e-books are basically designed for tablets, mobile and other devices and as a supplement to the original Harry Potter books that have sold more than 450 million copies worldwide.

Susan Jurevics, the chief executive of Pottermore, in a statement said, "J.K. Rowling's writing in these collections reveals intricate details of her characters' lives, their histories, as well as her inspiration." The e-books will be available on the Pottermore website as well as via digital booksellers.
