Heads up Delhi: Red light violation detection cameras, automatic number plate readers coming soon

New Delhi [India], Jan. 19 : Expressing concerns over Traffic Management issues in the city Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Thursday chaired a review meeting manage traffic in the system more effectively.

In the meeting it was decided that red light violation detection cameras and automatic number plate reader cameras would be installed at identified locations and strict action would be taken on over speeding vehicles and use of mobile while driving.

While chairing a meeting with senior officials of Delhi Police, Delhi Development Authority (DDA), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCDs), Public Works Department (PWD), Transport and UTTIPEC, Lt.

General Baijal directed all the agencies concerned, to work in tandem to resolve traffic management issues and to make Delhi roads safe for all.

The de-congestion plans for Dhaula Kuan, Mathura Road and Aurobindo Marg along with the vulnerable congestion points and junctions were identified for engineering improvement measure.

The reasons for congestion at each point, the action taken and the proposed action plans were also discussed.

Critical bottleneck congestion points would be identified by Traffic Police and measures to be taken were discussed to remove the same to maintain the smooth flow of traffic in the city.
