IG Meerut Sujeet Pandey to head probe in Bulandshahr gang-rape case

Lucknow, Aug 2 : The Samajwadi Party-led Uttar Pradesh Government on Tuesday informed that the Inspector General (IG) of Meerut Zone, Sujeet Pandey, would probe the investigation in the Bulandshahr gang-rape case.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav confirmed the news on Twitter. "On UP CM's instruction, Sujith Pandey, IG Meerut will head the Bulandshahr case. UP CM @yadavakhilesh also directed PS Home/DGP to ensure speedy investigation and ensure justice is delivered at the earliest,"tweeted Official Twitter handle of Office of the Chief Minister.

A fast track court in Bulandshahr yesterday sent the three accused arrested in connection with the case to 14-day judicial custody.

The incident took place last week on Friday night when a 35-year-old woman and her daughter were allegedly gang-raped by a group of robbers.

The victims were on their way from Noida to Shahjahanpur with the other family members when their vehicle was stopped near a cycle repairing shop in Dostpur village on NH-9, which connects Noida and Bulandshahr.
