‘India Inc needs to go hyper local to assist corona fight’

New Delhi, April 24 : India Inc needs to adopt a hyper-local approach to assist local agencies to improve local governance capabilities in these challenging times of the coronavirus pandemic according to Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog.

Speaking at an e-interactive session on 'Opportunities for CSR during and post COVID-19' organised by the National CSR Network (NCN) on Thursday, Kumar urged corporates to pay greater focus on programmes like preventive care and 'Fit India Movement' and incorporate them into their social mode of activities.

"This will be necessary to bring about behavioural changes in the people in maintaining social hygiene and creating a 'Jan Andolan' to deal with such pandemics in future," he said.

He also called for a collaborative approach amongst the government, industry and civil society to build trust, partnership and work together for the national cause.

The National CSR Network during the session released a report on current interventions under the CSR activities, support required by corporates from stakeholders and the CSR road map for the next 12 months.

The report called for CSR initiative to serve the poor patients free of cost or at subsidised prices every year.

It also said that post the lockdown focus of CSR initiatives should be on income generating activities.
