India reach 75-2 at lunch in Indore Test

Indore (Madhya Pradesh)[India], Oct.8 : India reached 75 for two at lunch on the opening day of the third and the final Test match against New Zealand here at Holkar Stadium on Saturday.

Opting to bat first, India started slowly on a pitch, which looked a little tacky for batting. The hosts lost opener Murali Vijay for mere 10 runs off Jeetan Patel's delivery. Veteran batsman Gautam Gambhir, who was making a Test comeback after a gap of two years following Shikhar Dhawan's right thumb injury in the Kolkata Test, then steadied his side's innings along with opener Cheteshwar Pujara.

The duo added 26 runs in India's first innings before Gambhir got dismissed by Trent Boult after making just 29 runs.

At the time of filing of this report, India had resumed their innings, with skipper Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara batting at their respective scores of eight and 32 respectively.

India are currently leading the three-match series 2-0 following their comprehensive 178-run win over New Zealand in the second Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
