Isco’s away goal hands CL final berth to Real Madrid

Madrid [Spain], May 11 : Isco smashed a decisive away goal as Real Madrid stormed into their third Champions League final in four years after registering a 4-2 aggregate win over their local rivals Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon Stadium here on Thursday.

Zinedine Zidane's side, who registered a 2-0 win in the first-leg at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, made it to the summit showdown despite a 2-1 defeat in the second leg of their semi-final tie,goal.com reported.

Two goals in the first 16 minutes of the match from Atletico threatened to produce another memorable comeback in this season's tournament, until Isco's struck a goal just before the half-time to end those hopes and emerge victorious.

Midfielder Saul Niguez put Atletico ahead by smashing a header as early as in the 12th minute of the match before Antoine Griezmann converted a penalty into a goal to double the side's lead.

However, Isco's first goal of the Champions League this season in the 42nd minute handed Zidane's side a crucial away goal and a place in the summit showdown.

Real Madrid will now hope to defend their Champions League title when they take on Juventus in the summit showdown on June 4.
