Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor requests WB not to cancel funds

Islamabad[ Pakistan], Mar. 6: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has requested the World Bank (WB) not to terminate the revitalisation of KP and Fata (ERKF) and the Rural Livelihoods and Community Infrastructure Project (RLCIP).

According to the Dawn, following the threats of cancellation of grant worth USD 27 million and the WB has been assured that its concerns would be addressed upfront and conditionality will be met on an urgent basis.

"We understand that Fata secretariat is addressing our concerns and look forward to their earlier resolution.

It is paramount that beneficiaries are supported without any interruption through swift decisions," the dawn quoted WB Communications Officer Mehreen Saeed, as saying.

In a letter last month, the WB had warned Jhagra that the province could lose at least USD 27 million which is to be used for economic revitalisation of the province and the tribal areas, if the government did not approve PC-1s for the two key donor-funded projects.
