Amsterdam, Sep 7 : Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton, who has debuted a fashion collection in collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, says 'loyalty' features in different styles through the line because the word means a lot to him.
"I live by a very strong set of values, and loyalty is one that my father taught me about from a very young age, and which inspired my tattoo.
Whether in my personal or professional life, I've always been loyal to my family, my friends, my fans, and my incredible team," Hamilton said in a statement.
He said Hilfiger shares these same values and is surrounded by an incredible team that is very passionate and loyal about the brand.
"This drove my decision to collaborate with the iconic designer on this first TommyXLewis collection," he said of the collection, which is a collision of sporty prep meets street.
Among other words that inspire him everyday include "family" and "faith".
"I also have (them) as tattoos.
Since the beginning of my career, my family has always believed in me and I wouldn't be where I am today without their support.
"I'm also very strong in my faith - I'm truly blessed by the life I lead, though I've worked hard to achieve everything I have accomplished," he added.
Apart from being behind the wheels, Hamilton's other passion is music.
"Music has always played a very important role in my life.
I started playing the guitar when I was 13 years old, and today I love to hit the studio and produce hip-hop and R (and) B music.
"It's a place where I can be myself, disconnect from the world, and let my creativity flow," he said.
As for what he has learn about the world of fashion design, Hamilton said: "I've learnt the importance of embracing my individual style, to not be afraid of pushing the boundaries and suggest new designs.
"Adding unexpected details, like contrasting threads or different buttons, will also give classic styles a cool and unique twist."
The TommyNow runway show travelled to Shanghai earlier this week with global brand ambassadors Hamilton, Hailey Baldwin, Winnie Harlow and Maggie Jiang.
The event built on the success of Tommy Hilfiger's signature 'See Now, Buy Now' format, and all runway looks are available across an ecosystem of immediately shoppable channels in more than 70 countries.
