Madrid fight back to beat Villarreal 3-2 in La Liga

Villarreal [Spain], Feb.27 : Despite being two goals down in the second-half, Real Madrid bounced back in style to register an enthralling 3-2 win over Villarreal and move back to the top of La Liga here on Monday.

After a goalless first half, Villarreal sealed two quick fire second-half goals from Manu Trigueros (50th) and Cedric Bakambu (56th) to go 2-0 up at Estadio de la Ceramica.

However, Madrid, who were beaten by Valencia last time out, produced a dramatic comeback as they netted three goals in 19 minutes of the second-half to avoid back-to-back losses and seal three points, goal.com reported.

Gareth Bale, who was starting for the first time since November after an ankle injury, pulled back opener for Madrid with a well-placed header in the 64th minute before star striker Cristiano Ronaldo became La Liga's leading penalty scorer with 57 in the 74th minute.

Madrid's Alvaro Morata, who came as a substitute, then sealed a winner to guide his side to one point clear of second-place Barcelona in the standings.

Madrid will take on Las Palmas while Villarreal will lock horns with Osasuna in their next La Liga clash on Thursday.
