Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Mar. 30 : Following footsteps of Tamil Nadu which won the Jallikattu war, the Maharashtra Government is all set to introduce a bill to legalise bullock-cart race in the state.
The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis-led government has constituted a high-level parliamentary committee to formulate a draft of the Bill.
Animal Husbandry minister Mahadev Jankar confirmed that the bill is likely to be introduced in the current budget session itself.
The bill is similar to the one passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly for conducting bull-taming sport Jallikattu.
The demand from parties to legalise the sport has been growing specifically after the Tamil Nadu Assembly in January unanimously passed a bill to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, with a view to allow Jallikattu.
