Rajkot (Gujarat) [India], May 6 : Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum, who plays for Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League (IPL , will miss the last three matches of his team of the tournament after suffering a left hamstring strain against Delhi Daredevils on Thursday.
In a tweet, McCullum stated that the "compressed tournament and long travel" had taken a toll. "Injuries are not ideal but part of our sport. Compressed tournament (and) long travel can be gruelling. Sorry for not being there all the way," the former New Zealand skipper tweeted. It is reported that McCullum has been advised three-four weeks of intensive rehabilitation so as to not aggravate the damage in his hamstring.
The 35-year-old has scored 330 runs in 11 games with two half-centuries at a strike rate of 145.50. Lions were knocked out of contention for playoffs after their seven-wicket defeat to Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla.
