Mosharraf Hossain back to Bangladesh ODI team after eight-year gap

Dhaka [Bangladesh], Sept.29 : After a long span of eight years, Bangladesh have recalled left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain to replace pacer Rubel Hossain for the final ODI of the three-match series against Afghanistan to be held on Saturday in Mirpur.

The decision came after Rubel conceded 24 runs in just three overs he bowled during the side's two-wicket defeat against Afghanistan in the second match.

The 26-year-old had fared only slightly better in the first game, giving away 62 runs in nine overs he bowled,ESPNcricinfo reported.

Mosharraf, who played a total of three ODIs in his career, all in March 2008, has been among the leading wicket-takers in the domestic cricket since the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) reinstated the Indian Cricket League (ICL) players in 2010.

Mosharraf, who was added to Bangladesh's 30-man preliminary squad ahead of the international season, was provisionally banned in connection with the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League fixing controversy, but cleared of any wrongdoing by the investigation tribunal.

The three-match series between the two sides is currently levelled at 1-1. Bangladesh won the opening game by seven runs..
