NITI Aayog asked to study food grains procurement trends

New Delhi, Dec 19 : The NITI Aayog has been asked to study the trends in procurement of food grains and assess impact of Decentralized Procurement Scheme (DCP) system, Parliament was told on Tuesday.



Also, it has been asked to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement agencies under the DCP System, Minister of State for Food (and) Public Distribution C.R.

Chaudhary told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.

Non-DCP states are regularly encouraged to take up the DCP for food grains, but this is implemented with the consent of the state concerned, he said.

Chaudhary also said 15 states had adopted the DCP mode for procurement of rice --Jharkhand has partially adopted DCP operation for five revenue districts-- and eight states had adopted DCP mode for procurement of wheat-- Rajasthan has partially adopted DCP operation for nine districts.
