Odisha’s Covid toll crosses 1,000-mark

Bhubaneswar, Oct 10 : The Covid-19 toll breached the 1,000-mark in Odisha after 15 more corona patients died of the virus in the last 24 hours, informed a health official on Saturday.

The number of fatalities reached 1,006 in the state.

Five deaths were reported from Khordha district, two from Cuttack district, one death each from Balasore, Balangir, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh.

The Covid-19 positive tally rose to 2,49,693 in the state with 2,854 more cases detected in the last 24 hours, the official said.

Of the fresh cases, 1,659 patients were in quarantine and 1,195 local contact cases.

Khordha recorded the highest 393 fresh cases followed by Cuttack 244, Sundargarh 143, Angul 131 and Mayurbhanj 127.

The active case count in the state stands at 28,246 and 2,20,388 patients have recovered from the disease till now.
