Paani Foundation announces 2nd edition of ‘Satyamev Jayate Water Cup’

New Delhi [India], Dec. 31 : After receiving tremendous success with the pilot edition of the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup, which created an annual water storage capacity of 1,368 crore litres in three talukas of Maharashtra, Paani Foundation launches Satyamev Jayate Water Cup's second edition in 30 talukas of the state.

The Satyamev Jayate Water Cup is essentially a competition between different villages to see who can do the maximum work for watershed management and water conservation in the period of the competition.

The names of the 30 talukas eligible to participate in Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2 will be announced at a Press Conference on January 3, 2017, 4:30 pm onwards at the Sahyadri State Guest House in Mumbai.

Those who will be present at the launch ceremony include the Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, Paani Foundation's founders Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, Paani Foundation's CEO Satyajit Bhatkal and a large number of stars from the film industry.

A special music video created for the Water Cup will be launched on the occasion. The music for this has been composed by Ajay-Atul, lyrics are by Guru Thakur and the music video has been shot by Nagraj Manjule.

The creative team for the music video will also be present at the Press Conference. The competition period is April 8 to May 22, 2017. The top three villages across Maharashtra will get a cash prize of Rs. 50 lakhs, Rs. 30 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs respectively. In addition, the top village from each taluka will get a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakhs. Every village in the selected talukas is eligible to participate. So, participation is based on self-selection. The last date for villages in the thirty selected talukas to apply is January 31, 2017..
