Pak Student gets ‘Student’ Oscar nomination

Karachi, Aug 4: Pakistani student Shahnawaz Zali's documentary, '100 Steps-Sau Qadam' has made itself to the 'Student' Oscar nomination list.

The film, made in 2015, has been nominated as 'Best film in the Narrative category' for the 43rd Student Academy Awards, reports the Expres Tribune.

'100 Steps-Sau Qadam' revolves around a young boy who is dragged into suicide bombings. The 23-year-old director, who hails from Lahore, took to his Twitter handle to make the big announcement.

"Dreams do come true. One step closer to Oscars!! My film nominated for student oscars!http:www.oscars.org/news/2016-student-academy-awards-finalists-announced .#RevivalOfPakistaniCinema" he posted.

Student at the Northwestern University in Qatar, Shahnawaz has won a number of accolades previously, including the 'Best Film' award for 'Muhammad' at the Qatar Media Awards 2014 and 'Best Screenplay' award for '100 Steps' at the Qatar Media Awards 2015.
