PM’s Lucknow visit a case of opportunistic politics: SP

New Delhi [India] Oct. 10 : The Samajwadi Party on Monday reiterated Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's view that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Lucknow on Tuesday is a clear case of "opportunistic politics" done for votes.

Party spokesman Gaurav Bhatia told ANI "This is nothing but opportunistic politics only for the sake of votes.

It doesn't auger very well for a political party or a senior leader to remember the common man only before the elections rather there should be a genuine feeling to serve the people of the state and especially for the state of Uttar Pradesh, which has given 73 MPs to the central government." "We saw that the BJP government at the Centre was not even willing to respond to the letters written by the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

We have made various demands so that development could be done at a greater pace but we got no co-operation from the central government," he added.

"What can I say about anyone going anywhere? We have to follow a protocol we will do it. I guess if elections were happening in Bihar then the Ravana would have been burnt there," Akhilesh had told a press conference in Lucknow earlier in the day.
