‘Proud father’ Donald Trump backs undefire daughter Ivanka

New Delhi[India], Feb. 12: After Nordstrom dropped Ivanka Trump's fashion line, U.S. President Donald Trump quickly tweeted his disapproval and backed his daughter by praising her for the courage she showed despite being 'abused' by media.

Ivanka Trump has not publicly commented on the situation. The President reiterated his support for his daughter in a tweet on Saturday. "I am so proud of my daughter Ivanka. To be abused and treated so badly by the media, and to still hold her head so high, is truly wonderful!" he tweeted.

The Trumps weren't the only father-daughter duo showing support this past week. Earlier, Meghan McCain sprang to her father's defense after Trump slammed the Republican lawmaker John McCain on Twitter.

The President accused McCain, a decorated veteran and former prisoner of war, of emboldening the enemy for disputing the administration's insistence that a deadly U.S.

military mission in Yemen was a success. The senator did not weigh in, but his daughter tweeted: "Trump has never served. My father can't bend one of his knees or lift one of his arms above his head. I am done with this today." Sales of First Daughter Ivanka Trump's merchandise at Nordstrom's had tumbled sharply prior to the 2016 election, The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, which hastened the retail giant's decision to drop the brand.

Nordstrom's move triggered a furious partisan back-and-forth this week, with President Trump and his senior counselor Kellyanne Conway using official channels to criticize the company, with critics suggesting they may have run afoul of government ethics rules.
