Proud to bring my home country and the US closer: Global Citizen ambassador PeeCee

New Delhi [India], Sept. 14 : Priyanka Chopra, the global ambassador for Global Citizen is proud to bring India and the United States closer through the amazing cause to fight poverty and focus on sanitation, clean water, education and gender equality.

In a video posted by Global Citizen on its Twitter handle and reposted by the 34-year-old actor, she is seen saying, "Namaste Mumbai.

As the Global Citizen global ambassador, I am so excited to support the launch for the first Global Citizen Festival in India and I am proud to bring my home country and the US closer through this amazing cause.

This is an incredible opportunity to bring real and meaningful change into the lives of people across all over India and Inspire the world through your actions." Adding on to this, the 'Quantico' star further said, "Through Global Citizen India, you will join a movement of people who are working to build a more sustainable future for all of us, especially for girls and women.

Empowering girls and women is a key step in ending extreme poverty. Starting today, you can do your part to bring about gender equality in India." Along with the video, the Global Citizen tweeted, "Join @GlblCtznIN ambassador @priyankachopra at #globalcitizenindia Fest! #ShuruaatHoonMain https:globalcitizen.in" On a related note, PeeCee serves as an ambassador for Girl Rising, the campaign to improve girls' education globally, and Girl Up, a United Nations foundation.

She was also appointed as a National Ambassador to UNICEF for children's rights in 2010. The charity concert, which is overseen by the Global Poverty Project, will be held at the MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai on November 19 on the occasion of World Toilet Day with a focus on sanitation, clean water, education and gender equality.

The inaugural Global Citizen Festival India will be headlined by International artists like Coldplay and Jay Z and a host of B-Town biggies like Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, AR Rahman, Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Arijit Singh, Dia Mirza, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Monali Thakur.
