PTI begins preparation for 2018 elections

Islamabad [Pakistan], Dec. 15 : The Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has started its preparations for the 2018 polls by setting up a parliamentary board for selecting candidates both for the National Assembly and provincial assembly seats.

A decision to form a political committee to decide arrangement for the public rallies before the next hearing of the Panamagate case was also made during the meeting of the party's core committee which was held at Imran Khan's Bani Gala residence here, reports The Express Tribune.

Asserting that the next general elections are likely to be held much ahead of the schedule, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the polls are most likely to be held in 2017.

He said that people of Pakistan want to have early elections as they are fed up of rampant corruption under the PML-N rule.

Qureshi said the party's strategy for its mass mobilisation campaign would be decided by the political committee.

He accused Sharif of lying about his off-shore assets in the National Assembly. "People no longer trust Nawaz Sharif," Qureshi said..
